Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Greensboro, North Carolina
Job Details
- Discipline: Registered Nurse
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (6 months)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
- Unit: Primarily Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patient population; tele-capable unit
- Additional Duties: May be required to work Charge RN shifts and float across all facilities as needed
Job Description
- Must pass a mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding (required for all RNs)
- Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Patient ratio approximately 1:6
- Responsibilities include:
- Use of Rapid Response teams
- Blood product administration
- Peripheral line care management and starting IVs
- Administration of Heparin, Insulin, PCA
- Nasal Cannula management
- Isolation precautions
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required
- BLS certification required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Pass/Fail Testing including EKG and Medication competency exams
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing policies
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
- Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Fingerprinting (if applicable for certain positions)
- Completion of facility-specific forms including health history and floating policy acknowledgment
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual attire)
Testing and Competency Exams
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs (2 attempts allowed, remediation required after first failure)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Color vision test (if applicable)
- EPIC test required for RNs and allied health starting 9/19/23 (2 attempts allowed)
- Other competency exams as applicable by specialty/unit
References and Work History
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
