Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3 PM – 3 AM
Work Schedule: Full Time


Job Summary

Provide independent nursing care in an Emergency Department setting, managing a wide range of patient types including stroke, STEMI, Level I trauma, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, behavioral health, and other emergency cases. Deliver routine and complex care while demonstrating clinical judgment and leadership in patient assignments and delegation.


Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and clinical practice.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including Level 1, 2, or 3 trauma patients.
  • Emergency Department experience within the last year is required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • TNCC certification.

Patient Population

  • Emergency Department patients including trauma levels 1-3, stroke, STEMI, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, and behavioral health.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • This is a backfill position with two openings starting May 11, 2026.
