Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Unit: 5T - 22 bed adult Medical Surgical Oncology unit
Shift: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, holidays as needed

Job Description

• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required; Medical Surgical nurses will float to PCU as needed
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must already hold a South Carolina nursing license
• Skills required: IV start
• Certification required: BCLS
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
• Scrubs: Not provided; royal blue/white colors required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Current South Carolina RN license
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Certification in CST or NBSTSA
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• IV start competency
• Background and license must be clean (no hits accepted)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Criminal background check within 6 months (or within 30 days for new candidates)
• Various background screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and for contract renewals
• Primary source license verification (NURSYS for RNs)
• Completion of facility-specific Relias training modules (~81 modules) prior to first shift and orientation
• Badge photo meeting facility standards
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Immunizations and/or titers required: Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu (2025-26 season), COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination forms
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required for positive responders
• Drug testing (10 panel) within 6 months or 30 days of start depending on hire date
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completion of skills checklist and performance evaluations as applicable

Notes

• Facility is strict on documentation and compliance with all health and background requirements
• Candidates must be prepared to float between Medical Surgical and PCU units as needed
• Orientation and training time may include up to 8 hours for module completion

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with PCU experience who are licensed in South Carolina and are open to travel assignments.
