Registered Nurse - MICU
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Job Overview
- Assignment in a high acuity unit with patient diagnoses including COVID care and pronation therapy.
- Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) required.
- Responsibilities include pronation therapy and vasopressor titrations.
- Use of special equipment such as CRRT dialysis.
- Float requirement applies.
- EPIC electronic health record experience preferred and required.
- No block scheduling requests allowed.
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying onsite until the event passes or participating in relief efforts.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted.
- Epic experience required.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Louisiana.
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) experience.
- Experience with pronation therapy.
- Experience with vasopressor titrations.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required.
Additional Requirements
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy).
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification.
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for certain units)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
- Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, color).
- Skills checklist and employment application required.
- Must be willing to comply with emergency preparedness protocols during hurricane season (June 1 - Nov 30).

- Candidates should be comfortable with potential emergency team assignments requiring extended onsite presence.
- No block scheduling requests will be accommodated.
This position is ideal for experienced MICU Registered Nurses with critical care skills, CRRT experience, and EPIC proficiency who are flexible and able to respond to emergency situations.
