Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Hospice

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Role involves Home Health Hospice Float or Admissions.
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
• Minimum of 1 year of hospice experience, with hospice experience within the last year.
• Experience in a Home Health setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be relevant depending on unit.
• Pass/Fail testing onsite including Telemetry and Medication exams.
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with annual updates and minimum 80% passing score.
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam with annual updates.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (not required for Hospice or Home Health).
• Physical exam within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Fit mask test within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Immunization and health document requirements including:

  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster (no exemptions).
  • Flu vaccination (mandatory, no religious or medical declinations accepted).
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or declination.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe.
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 72 hours of contract signing.

Background and Verification Requirements

• 7-year background check including national and state-level searches.
• Employment verification for the last 7 years.
• Education verification or diploma required.
• Two professional references required:

  • One supervisory reference from within the last 12 months.
  • One professional reference from within the last 3 years.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete facility-specific learning modules and pass related tests prior to start.
• Annual competency and certification renewals are required to maintain working status.
• No temporary or emergency licenses accepted unless approved.
• Candidates must be prepared for badge creation during orientation.
• Pass/fail testing failure will result in contract cancellation.

This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs with home health experience who meet New Jersey licensing and certification requirements and are ready to comply with comprehensive health and background screening protocols.
