Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Support primarily Medical-Surgical units with floating duties.
- Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks.
- Must be willing to work weekends as needed, which may include most weekends during the contract.
- Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be guaranteed.
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required.
- Prior travel experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Epic electronic health records system strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least 2 years of experience in PCU Float (Progressive Care Unit).
- Medical-Surgical experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course).
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification).
- Tech Cert Verification - National.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
- State License 1 Verification.
- NURSYS Verification.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID.
- I9 or attestation.
- Background check within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- State RN license verification within 30 days of start.
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year.
- Physical exam within 1 year, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Immunizations and health screenings (must be current or completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent within 1 year)
- Rubeola (Measles) - 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Mumps - 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
- Seasonal flu vaccination (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation
- Drug testing plan must be in place within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Annual updates required for some documents and competencies.
Additional Information
- Must be agreeable to floating assignments.
- References: 2 references required within 3 years of start.
- Resume or employment application required.
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
- Orientation and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses comfortable with flexible scheduling and floating across units, with a preference for those who have prior travel nursing experience and Epic system knowledge.
