Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
Floating Required: Yes (to Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical departments)
Job Description
- Provide total care for ICU patients in a 12-bed unit
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
- Responsibilities include managing ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene
- Floating to ER involves assisting with call lights, medication passing, transport, IV starts, and blood draws (no patient assignments)
- Floating to Med-Surg may require taking a full assignment (up to 6 patients) or acting as an aide (up to 12 patients)
- No call required
- Holidays required
- Blocked scheduling may be accommodated (must be requested in submission)
- EMR system used: MedHost
- Scrub color: Any
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Emergency Department (ED) experience
- Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
Additional Information
- Float log maintained in ICU to track floating assignments
- House supervisor or director may override float rotation based on staffing needs and nurse experience
- 48-hour guaranteed hours are NOT approved for this assignment
