Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Pain Management and Interventional Radiology
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (3:30 PM - 12:00 AM)
- Call Requirements:
- On-call rotation Monday-Friday, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
- Weekends and holidays on-call 24 hours, rotated among all nurses
- Occasional weekend day shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Time Off (RTO):
- Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days
- No time off on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory floating within Radiology and Pain departments as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Additional: Staff required to wear lead aprons
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Pain Management nursing
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Navy Blue (not provided)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as required
Additional Notes
- This is a mandatory float facility; nurses must be willing to float within the Radiology and Pain departments.
- On-call schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays with rotation among nursing staff.
- No time off allowed on or around holidays and weekends as specified.
- Local candidates are preferred but travel nurses are accepted.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a background in pain management and interventional radiology seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a structured on-call and floating schedule.
