License Requirements

• Must have a Registered Nurse license
• Facility accepts compact licenses, but candidate must apply for Alaska RN license prior to starting

Required Health and Compliance Documents

• Physical exam (renewed annually)
• Fit mask test (approved facility mask, renewed annually, must be completed prior to arrival)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• TB questionnaire (renewed annually)
• Measles (Rubeola) immunity proof (titer or 2 vaccines)
• Mumps immunity proof (titer or 2 vaccines)
• Rubella immunity proof (titer or 2 vaccines)
• Hepatitis B immunity or vaccine series or signed facility-specific declination
• Varicella immunity proof (titer or 2 vaccines)
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccination (initial series or J&J dose plus seasonal/bi-valent vaccine)

  • Medical exemptions accepted with doctor’s letter; religious and declinations not accepted

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Standard background check within 90 days of start (includes SS trace, county searches for last 7 years)
• Sex offender search within 30 days of start
• Education verification not required for RN
• Fingerprinting not required for this facility
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Clinical skills checklist required
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
• Competency exam required

Facility Specific Requirements

• Must complete personal data, non-employee approval, badge, confidentiality, orientation handbook, and statement agreement forms prior to start
• Must complete facility-specific onboarding and pre-boarding tasks within deadlines
• Photo for badge highly preferred
• HealthStream training modules assigned during orientation (approx. 15 minutes each)

Additional Notes

• No contract changes allowed after signing (including start dates, shifts, etc.)

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alaska
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a General Surgery RN
• Case Management experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• AVADE certification
• CWOCN certification

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in general surgery, who are open to travel assignments in Alaska and can meet the licensing and compliance requirements. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
