Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Floating required within MS/Tele, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and lower acuity settings within skillset; may float to Emergency Department (ED)
- Ratios: 1:5 (possible 1:6)
- Hospital operates at over 100% capacity
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule (may vary by unit)
- Guaranteed contracted hours: 36, 40, or 48 hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- On-call: Not required
- Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals within 100 miles not accepted
- Pending New Mexico nursing license accepted at time of submission
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: absences greater than 10 days require approval
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico (pending license accepted at submission)
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- National Tech Certification Verification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam with pass/fail testing for EKG/medication competency
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing requirements
- NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP licensure
Required Certifications

Orientation and Testing
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required for certain units; must score 80% overall and 100% on lethal arrhythmia section
- Candidates have two attempts to pass the exam before cancellation
- Cerner training attestation required for all RNs starting with the 8/4/25 orientation group; test-out option available
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification may be required depending on unit
- Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication competency required for specific units
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (negative result)
- Physical exam required within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask testing required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with exemptions accepted
Documentation and Verification
- Social Security card may be requested for verification
- Employment application with at least 3 years of work history required
- Work history verification for 3 years required
- Two professional references within three years of hire required
- Various facility-specific compliance forms and acknowledgements required prior to start
Additional Notes
- No locals accepted within 100 miles radius
- New contracts and extensions require a minimum 10-week commitment
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative travel work at this facility, whichever comes first
- Overtime paid after 48 hours worked on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of MS/Telemetry experience who are comfortable floating across related units and working in a high-capacity, fast-paced acute care environment. The role requires flexibility, adherence to strict compliance and certification standards, and the ability to work weekends as scheduled.
