Job Opportunity: Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Start date must be 4/13 or 4/20
- Must have 2-3 years of Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Pre-Testing experience
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with varying days off; no weekends or holidays
- Night shifts: 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12 nights)
- No on-call required
- No background/license issues accepted; no exemptions
Required Licensure
- Active District of Columbia nursing license required prior to start
- Applicants without a DC nursing license will not be considered
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable to unit/specialty)
- State nursing license primary source verification
- NURSYS verification
- Pass/Fail Medication Calculation Exam at orientation (must score 84% or higher, 2 attempts allowed)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of Pediatric PACU and Pre-Testing experience
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules within the first week of assignment
- Missed shifts due to call-outs must be made up at the end of the contract
- Physical exam within 30 days of start, including latex allergy information
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values)
- Hepatitis B series and quantitative titer
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values)
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (must include marijuana)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination required for tracking purposes
- Completion of facility-specific safety and competency exams, including medication and pharmacology competency
- Photo for badge must be submitted immediately after signing contract
Background and Documentation
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification required (transcript/diploma accepted if pending)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references dated within the past two years (preferably supervisors/managers)
Work Environment
- Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit
- No weekends or holidays required
- No on-call duties
Note: Clearance to start must be obtained prior to reporting for the first day.
