Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an Interventional Radiology unit. The role requires independent workload management and the ability to integrate quickly into the team. This is not a position for first-time travelers.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Overnight call rotation required
- Every other weekend coverage
- Float within the unit required
- Average daily census: 5-6 patients per room
- Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Work alongside Interventional Radiology attendings, fellows, and radiology residents (resident coverage 24/7)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with conscious sedation
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with infants and pediatrics
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
- NIH certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Scrub experience
- Neuro IR experience
- ICU, ED, or Tele Step Down experience
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Candidates may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" during emergency events and must be willing to stay onsite or be part of relief efforts as directed by unit management.
- Background checks, drug screening, and various health documents (including immunizations and TB testing) are required and must be current.
- Fit testing for N95 masks may be required onsite if not completed prior to start.
- Photo ID and other standard credential verifications are required.
- Candidates must be comfortable with call and float responsibilities within the unit.
Summary
This role is ideal for an experienced Interventional Radiology RN with prior travel contract experience, strong critical care and sedation skills, and flexibility to work call and float shifts. The position demands readiness to respond to emergency situations and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
