Description

Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assistant

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position requires completion of a privileging process prior to start (approximately 3-4 months).
  • Schedule: Day shifts.
  • Call: One day per week and one weekend every ~4 weeks (subject to change).
  • Floating within facility and main OR as needed.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time.
  • No holiday return to office (RTO) accepted.
  • Maximum return to office (RTO) time: 7 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification.
  • Certification by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCSA (National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants).
  • Minimum of 2 years of CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) Surgical First Assistant experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in cardiac, vascular, endovascular, and thoracic surgical procedures.
  • Valid Georgia state license as a Certified Surgical First Assistant.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications as applicable.
  • Background checks completed and cleared prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (two negative TB tests required for privileging specialties).
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination), Tdap (highly recommended).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
  • Competency exams may include medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing.
  • Two clinical references required.
  • Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months.
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.

Additional Notes

  • Privileging specialties require additional compliance documentation and checklists.
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance.
  • Orientation hours vary based on contract length.
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate.
  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final approval.

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Certified Surgical First Assistant with at least 2 years of surgical services experience. The role requires completion of a privileging process before starting, adherence to strict compliance and health requirements, and participation in call and floating duties.
