Description
Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: 4x12 hour days (06:30 - 19:00), open to 3x12 hour shifts as well
- Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
- On-Call: Yes, rotating call as needed with staff and agency; flexible per census
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Schedule: Block schedule requests can be discussed
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Pending License: Not accepted; must have active license
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year experience in specialty required (higher value confirmed)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Required work setting experience: Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
- Required procedural skills:
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- IABP Placement/Removal
- Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
- Left and Right Heart Catheterization
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Rotablader Athrectomy
- Scrub Procedures
- Procedural responsibilities: Equipment setup, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Infection control: Isolation precautions, sterile technique
- Age-specific competencies: Middle and older adult patients
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner experience required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Active license appropriate for Cath Lab Tech role
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Magnet recognized facility
- 562 staffed beds
- Scrub color provided
- Charting via Cerner
- Parking permit required, no cost
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within one year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask testing required (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually
- References: 2 professional references required
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo required prior to start
- Illinois state fingerprinting and healthcare worker registry requirements apply for those without an IL license (must be completed in Illinois)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience in both Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab settings
- Proficient in the following procedures and skills:
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- IABP Placement and Removal
- Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
- Left and Right Heart Catheterization
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Rotablader Athrectomy
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record system
- Current certifications:
