Description
Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assistant
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 15 weeks
Job Summary
- Position requires completion of a privileging process prior to start (approximately 3-4 months).
- Schedule: Day shifts.
- Call: One day per week and one weekend every ~4 weeks (subject to change).
- Floating within facility and to Main OR as needed.
- Minimum 2 years of experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time.
- No holiday return to office (RTO) accepted.
- Maximum return to office (RTO) is 7 days.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in Surgical Services.
- Licensure: Must hold current and valid licensure as a Certified Surgical First Assistant in the state of Georgia.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit description and specialty.
- Background Checks: Must have a completed background check within 30 days of start.
- Education: Verification of related degree required; diplomas/transcripts may be requested.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (two negative TB tests required for privileging specialties).
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity including MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination), and seasonal flu vaccination or declination.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Tdap vaccination highly recommended; declination form available if not vaccinated.
- Competency Exams: May include medication/pharmacology, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency, and other specialty-specific exams.
- References: Two clinical references required.
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated within the last 12 months.
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
Additional Information
- Privileging specialties require additional compliance checklists and documentation.
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance.
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length.
- Locals are accepted at the same rate.
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final approval.
Important Notes
- Privileging process must be completed before start date; this process can take approximately 120 days.
- Candidates cannot start with pending background checks or drug screens.
- Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing is required to avoid delays.
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
