Registered Nurse - Intermediate Medical Care (IMC)
Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in General Intermediate Level of Care (IMC)
- Shifts: Day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: As needed (up to 36 hours)
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Will float to appropriate similar units at IMC level or lower as needed
Unit Information
- Unit Size: 12 IMC beds (36 beds total on the floor)
- Patient Ratios:
- IMC patients: 1:3
- Med-surg side (when floating): 1:4-5 (days), 1:5-6 (nights)
- Equipment Used: Telemetry, BiPAP, Hi-Flow O2, Insulin drips for DKA protocol
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Epic
Patient Population
- Respiratory conditions
- Medical telemetry patients
- Some surgical patients
- Sepsis
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Altered Mental Status
- Failure to Thrive
- Respiratory Failure
- Various acute on chronic medical conditions
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
- Med Surg experience
- Completion of one or more travel assignments
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior IMC travel experience preferred
