Job Opportunity: Hospital Pharmacist

Location: Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks (approximately 5 months)
Schedule:

• Rotating day/evening shifts, 40 hours per week
• Start times at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday
• Rotating weekends working 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Job Description

• Prepare and dispense medication orders as requested by physicians.
• Maintain medication stock in patient care areas.
• Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies according to policies and protocols.
• Interpret medication orders and maintain computerized patient medication profiles.
• Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding medication handling, including controlled substances.
• Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
• Perform pharmacokinetic drug dosing per hospital protocol.
• Review and interpret culture and sensitivity data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommend changes.
• Detect and report adverse drug reactions.
• Promote formulary adherence and rational drug therapy selection.
• Provide clinical consultation and drug information to medical staff, patients, and families.
• Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately.
• Participate in quality improvement and medication review activities.
• Collect data, conduct quality monitors and inspections, and maintain logs and records.
• Assist in orientation, education, and training programs for pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff.
• Serve as a member of the Code Response Team.
• Support the facility’s EMR conversion from Meditech to Epic (Epic experience required).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in Colorado
• Minimum of 3 years of pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

Additional Information

• Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 75 miles away from the facility location.
• Assignment end date projected to be August 15, 2026, with flexibility to adjust start date accordingly.

Summary

This is a contract hospital pharmacist position requiring strong clinical pharmacy skills, experience with Epic EMR, and an active Colorado pharmacist license. The role involves rotating shifts with weekend coverage and participation in clinical and quality improvement activities. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
