Location: Silver Spring, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details
- Specialty: Surgical Services (Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician)
- Shift: Days (10-hour shifts)
- Call Requirements:
- Possibility of 2-3 calls per week and at least 1 weekend per month
- On-call required Monday through Friday, off day varies
- Types of Cases: Adults, Adolescents, Geriatrics – General and Neurosurgery
- Preferred Cases: Cardiovascular
- Operating Rooms: 12
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
- Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
- Block Scheduling: Accommodations possible
- Locals Accepted: Yes (same metropolitan area)
- First-timers: Not accepted (must have prior experience)
- Scrub Experience: Required
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (CVOR Tech)
- Certifications:
- NBSTSA certification strongly preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Licensure: Must hold appropriate state license for CVOR Tech (no pending state licenses accepted)
- Other Requirements:
- Must be nicotine-free (no tobacco or nicotine products allowed; failure of nicotine/cotinine drug screen results in cancellation)
- Must be able to pass fit testing for masks (no religious or medical exemptions accepted without facility approval)
- Must have scrub experience
- On-call: Required

- Acute Care Hospital setting
- Total staffed beds: 178
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: Free in South Parking Garage
- Facility is smoke/nicotine free with strict enforcement
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification or transcript/diploma (highest degree completed)
- Fingerprinting required (Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI) for behavioral health units (not applicable here)
- Drug screen: 11-panel including cotinine/nicotine and marijuana within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (specific testing protocols apply)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive quantitative titer required; declinations not accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccines)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no declinations without facility approval)
- Visual acuity screening within 6 months, repeated annually
- Color blind exam within 5 years
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluation if worked over 1 year with the agency
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Radiation badge provided by facility if applicable
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be free of nicotine products for at least 90 days prior to start
- No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-timers are not accepted
- Facility enforces strict compliance with all documentation and immunization requirements
- Candidates must be able to work required call and weekend shifts
