Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Rosedale, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
- Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
- Conduct home visits with periodic office meetings.
- Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
- Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
- Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and required liability insurance.
- Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic, with weekly travel between 50-200 miles.
- Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
- Weekend rotation: approximately 1 weekend per month.
- On-call requirement: about 1 week per month.
- Charting and documentation require proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS (for RNs).
Required Qualifications
- Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health experience or 1 full year Hospice experience, depending on specialty.
- First-time travelers are not accepted; recent specialty experience is mandatory.
- Current, valid RN license for Maryland is required (no pending licenses accepted).
- CPR and BLS certification required (AHA, National CPR Foundation, or ARC accepted).
- Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) within the last 6 months is required; retraining may be required if last used over 6 months ago.
- RNs must be proficient in OASIS documentation.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Dress code: Scrubs.
- Patient visits are conducted in home settings.
- Productivity expectations: approximately 30 points per week (points assigned based on visit types and activities).
- Must be comfortable with electronic medical records and communication tools such as Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Must complete a standard background check including 7 years of history, sex offender search, drug screening, and education verification.
- Required health documents include: physical exam within 12 months, negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, immunizations or titers for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, and flu vaccination or declination.
- Fingerprinting and state-specific background checks as required by Maryland and other applicable states.
- Must have personal or auto insurance policy valid and current for home health visits.
- Candidates must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, privacy, and policy documents prior to start.
- Candidates must be willing to complete required training and quizzes related to home health care and compliance.
Travel & Local Candidates
- Local candidates are accepted under the same terms as travelers.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel within the assigned territory.
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Adult Home Health or Hospice care. The role requires strong clinical skills, supervisory experience, and proficiency with home health documentation systems.
