Job Description
The Interventional Radiology IV Access Registered Nurse provides individualized, age-specific nursing care within Radiology and Imaging Services, focusing primarily on IV access. Responsibilities include:
- Inserting and managing IVs, midlines, and PICCs according to competency.
- Monitoring for complications and responding appropriately.
- Maintaining sterile technique and TIME OUT compliance.
- Ensuring emergency equipment readiness.
- Reviewing post-PICC chest x-rays per policy.
- Educating patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Interventional Radiology, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- IV Certification
- Pharmacology knowledge and competency
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not required; locals and first-time travelers are welcome.
- On-site fit testing is mandatory.
- Candidates must bring all required documentation on the first day of orientation.
- Candidates with name changes must provide proof or documentation of the process.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements.
- Some certifications and trainings may require renewal or proof of renewal if expiring within a month of start.
- Candidates must complete required pass/fail competency exams with a maximum of three attempts.
- Candidates must complete the Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification if assigned to ER, Pediatric ER, or Behavioral Health units (not applicable for this role unless specified).
- Candidates must complete the Vendor Medical Clearance form if applicable (e.g., history of positive TB).
- Candidates must complete the Respiratory Medical Clearance and bring documentation to orientation.
- Candidates must complete the Fit Test Questionnaire within 48 hours of confirmation.
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific requirements, including New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List checks.
