Shift Details
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekend requirement: Work every other weekend
- No on-call required
- Floating within scope may be required
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license for Minnesota accepted (pending license accepted)
Clinical Skills & Patient Population
Candidates should be comfortable and competent with:
- Vasoactive IV drips
- Bipap, CPAP, AVAPS
- Post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy
- Endotool/insulin drips
- Care of patients with:
- Post cardiovascular procedures (CABG, Valve Replacement, Watchman, TAVR)
- Congestive heart failure (CHF)
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) / Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
- Cardio-renal syndrome
- Respiratory failure
- Arrhythmias
- Chest tubes
- Temporary pacers
- Use of heated high flow oxygen therapy

Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year required
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (documentation required before or shortly after start)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing within 1 year (9 panel acceptable)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (fit testing)
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online pre-orientation modules required within 72 hours of assignment start
- Modules vary by specialty and can take 3-9 hours to complete
Additional Notes
- Parking: Night shift parking is free in facility ramp; day/evening shifts have paid parking options
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Candidates must be able to work within facility policies and complete all required documentation and training on time
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
- Cardiac PCU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
