Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac/Telemetry Intermediate Care Unit

Shift Details

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend requirement: Work every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within scope may be required
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse license for Minnesota accepted (pending license accepted)

Clinical Skills & Patient Population

Candidates should be comfortable and competent with:

  • Vasoactive IV drips
  • Bipap, CPAP, AVAPS
  • Post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy
  • Endotool/insulin drips
  • Care of patients with:
    • Post cardiovascular procedures (CABG, Valve Replacement, Watchman, TAVR)
    • Congestive heart failure (CHF)
    • Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) / Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
    • Cardio-renal syndrome
    • Respiratory failure
    • Arrhythmias
    • Chest tubes
    • Temporary pacers
  • Use of heated high flow oxygen therapy

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year required
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (documentation required before or shortly after start)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing within 1 year (9 panel acceptable)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (fit testing)
  • MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online pre-orientation modules required within 72 hours of assignment start
  • Modules vary by specialty and can take 3-9 hours to complete

Additional Notes

  • Parking: Night shift parking is free in facility ramp; day/evening shifts have paid parking options
  • Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Candidates must be able to work within facility policies and complete all required documentation and training on time

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
  • Cardiac PCU experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
