Job Details

• Work Days: Friday through Sunday, no on-call required

• Required Experience: Craniotomy and burr hole experience is mandatory

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Ortho Trauma experience, with experience within the last year
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience
• Neuro/Spine experience
• General/Robotics/Trauma experience
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• National Tech Certification Verification

Experience Requirements

• Specialty experience: Minimum 1 year in relevant specialty areas (Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma) with craniotomy and burr hole experience
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Federal and state-level checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
• Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
• Texas-specific employability and employee misconduct registry checks within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or equivalent within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if non-immune
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if non-immune
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine (required during flu season; exemptions accepted)
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed

Documentation & Orientation

• Required to complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, employee handbook)
• Orientation includes general information modules (~3-4 hours)
• Must provide 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application required
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

This position offers a focused weekend schedule with no call and requires specialized surgical nursing skills in neuro and trauma areas. Compliance with extensive background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory.
