Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with a patient ratio of 1:1-2 (may vary if floated).
Patient population includes fresh heart surgery patients, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure.
Experience with devices such as Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) using Prismax, or experience with fresh heart cases is required.
Required skills include post-operative open heart recovery, Swan-Ganz catheter management, Flotrack monitoring, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes.
Experience with fresh open heart surgeries such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR is essential.
Floating is required to all ICUs, PACU, Emergency Department for ICU holding patients, and Intermediate Care Units (IMC).

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
IV Certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge
Experience in post-operative open heart recovery
Proficiency with Swan-Ganz catheter management
Experience with Flotrack (FloTrac) monitoring
Experience managing temporary pacers
Experience with arterial lines (A-lines)
Experience managing chest tubes
