Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with a patient ratio of 1:1-2 (may vary if floated).
- Patient population includes fresh heart surgery patients, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure.
- Experience with devices such as Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) using Prismax, or experience with fresh heart cases is required.
- Required skills include post-operative open heart recovery, Swan-Ganz catheter management, Flotrack monitoring, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes.
- Experience with fresh open heart surgeries such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR is essential.
- Floating is required to all ICUs, PACU, Emergency Department for ICU holding patients, and Intermediate Care Units (IMC).
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IV Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge
- Experience in post-operative open heart recovery
- Proficiency with Swan-Ganz catheter management
- Experience with Flotrack (FloTrac) monitoring
- Experience managing temporary pacers
- Experience with arterial lines (A-lines)
- Experience managing chest tubes
