Job Opportunity: OR Tech / Surgical Tech
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Assignment may include being part of an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or provide relief as assigned.
- Shift: Split 12-hour shift from 08:30 to 21:00.
- First half of the shift covers breaks, lunches, and relief; experience in multiple service lines such as general surgery, robotics, colon, and ortho is necessary to provide relief coverage.
- Peripheral vascular (PV) call required and will be on call.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an OR Tech / Surgical Tech
- CVOR Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Experience with peripheral vascular and hybrid OR cases
- Experience with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and endovascular AAA
- Experience with carotid endarterectomy
- Experience with fem-pop and tibial bypass
- Experience with embolectomy
- Experience with aortograms and fistulagrams
- Experience with AV fistulas and AV grafts
- Experience with total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH), total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH), and vaginal hysterectomy
- Experience with robotic cases, laparoscopic ectopic, laparoscopic cases, and laparotomy
- Experience with gastrectomy and liver resection
- Experience with mastectomy
- Experience with soft tissue procedures such as biopsy and hernia
- Experience with colectomy and anal cases
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NBSTSA or NCCT certification (Surgical Technologist certification)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NBSTSA or NCCT certification (Surgical Technologist certification)
Licensure & Compliance
- Must have an active state license or compact license appropriate for the role upon submission.
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID required (color copy).
- Background check within 90 days of start, including criminal history and education verification.
- Various background screenings and verifications required within 30 days of start (e.g., EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search).
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required, including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tdap vaccine (if applicable)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct-Apr)
- Fit testing for N95 masks required within one year of start; can be completed onsite if necessary.
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and extended onsite presence if needed.
- Skills checklist and employment application required, including 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps.
- Resume/application must be submitted.
