Job Opportunity: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) - PM Shift

Location: Lincoln, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred (based on typical ED RN requirements)
• No explicit prior travel experience required

Job Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments
• Complete discharge assessments and plans, ensuring patient/family understanding
• Develop and implement nursing care plans based on patient needs and physician orders
• Administer medications correctly, utilizing the five rights and evaluating patient responses
• Communicate patient care activities and updates to healthcare team members
• Document patient care activities according to standards and policies
• Assist with patient charges and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and bedside rounding
• Maintain a safe physical environment for patients and staff
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency/disaster preparedness planning and response
• Provide patient and family education as needed
• Perform follow-up calls to patients

Work Environment

• Requires physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, balancing, and lifting up to 30 lbs
• Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and cleaning chemicals possible
• Must have sufficient visual and hearing acuity to assess patients

Additional Information

• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts within the 12-week period
• Onboarding includes reporting to Human Resources on day 1

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic emergency department setting during the PM shift (7 PM to 7 AM) with a focus on comprehensive patient care and collaboration within the healthcare team.
