Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must be willing to float to other med/surg/telemetry units as assigned
- Urgent need for this position
- Facility will consider alternating 36/48 hour shifts or straight 48 hour shifts (straight 36 hour shifts will NOT be considered)
- Patient ratios up to 6:1
- Travel experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Arkansas Respiratory Care
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or ARC
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with acknowledgement of pass/fail testing requirement
- Tech Cert Verification - National
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Fit Test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
- Immunizations/Vaccinations required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year; chest x-ray within 2 years if positive)
- Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of signing contract
- Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Oct-April)
- COVID: Initial series or facility-specific declination required; annual boosters not required
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years of start
- Resume or employment application required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, HIPAA, and compliance training modules within 72 hours of signing contract
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required (e.g., standards of conduct, dress code, agency checklist, COVID declination if applicable)

- Prior travel experience is strongly preferred but not explicitly required
- Shift flexibility required with specific shift length preferences
- Patient ratios may be up to 6:1
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with med/surg and telemetry units, who are flexible with shifts and have strong clinical skills and certifications.
