Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be willing to float to other med/surg/telemetry units as assigned
• Urgent need for this position
• Facility will consider alternating 36/48 hour shifts or straight 48 hour shifts (straight 36 hour shifts will NOT be considered)
• Patient ratios up to 6:1
• Travel experience strongly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Arkansas Respiratory Care
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or ARC
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with acknowledgement of pass/fail testing requirement
• Tech Cert Verification - National
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Fit Test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
• Immunizations/Vaccinations required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year; chest x-ray within 2 years if positive)
  • Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of signing contract
• Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Oct-April)
• COVID: Initial series or facility-specific declination required; annual boosters not required

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application required
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, HIPAA, and compliance training modules within 72 hours of signing contract
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required (e.g., standards of conduct, dress code, agency checklist, COVID declination if applicable)

• Prior travel experience is strongly preferred but not explicitly required
• Shift flexibility required with specific shift length preferences
• Patient ratios may be up to 6:1

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with med/surg and telemetry units, who are flexible with shifts and have strong clinical skills and certifications.
