Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Evenings, 12-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
- Weekend and holiday call responsibility
Job Description
Seeking a Pediatric Operating Room Surgical Technologist with strong skills in the following areas:
- Eyes
- Urology
- Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric scrub experience
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Completion of a surgical technologist program OR 2 years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist may be considered in lieu of program completion
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 2 years pediatric scrub experience
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Strong skills in Eyes, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics
- Ability to work evening shifts with weekend and holiday call
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start date, including nationwide and multi-location searches
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems
- Education verification required if surgical technologist program completed
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start date
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam (to meet agency standard)
- Various health documentations including immunizations and TB testing (see Health Requirements below)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of one Tdap vaccination from adulthood required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions considered
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions considered
- Hepatitis B: Required if providing direct patient care or potential exposure to blood/body fluids; vaccination series or declination form required
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination required for certain departments
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for inpatient pediatric units
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication as applicable
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Other competency exams as required by specialty and facility

- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required (agency standard)
