Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience to provide specialized care for adult to geriatric patients. This is a travel contract position with a focus on endovascular procedures and vascular service line support.


Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Endovascular experience, specifically with EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)
  • Preferred experience with CSI and Penumbra devices

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis
  • Scrub color: OR scrubs provided
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
  • Call requirements:
    • Overnight call approximately 2 times per week
    • Regular day call about once per month
    • Approximately 2 weekend call shifts per assignment period
  • Floating: Rarely may float to Main OR
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Orientation & Compliance

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia with NURSYS verification
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including CVOR experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Endovascular experience, including EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)
  • Vascular service line experience

Background Checks & Documentation

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including criminal, sex offender, and education verification
  • Education verification of nursing degree required (can be pending with proof of processing)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • TB questionnaire updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccination or declination (seasonal requirement)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable units
  • Other competency exams as applicable to specialty

Additional Notes

  • Candidates without prior travel experience are accepted
  • Clinical references and skills checklist within 12 months required
  • Verification of recent work history required (can be pending with proof of processing)
  • Dress and professional appearance policies must be reviewed and followed
