Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a General Medical Surgical Unit caring for adult to geriatric patients
• Patient ratio approximately 1:6
• Unit uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Weekend shifts every other weekend
• Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
• Orientation hours vary based on contract length

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Medical Surgical)
• Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, and other certifications may be required depending on unit (refer to specialty/unit requirements)
• Background Checks: Must be completed and cleared prior to start
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Required immunizations or titers (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TDAP recommended)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or documented declination required during flu season
• Competency Exams: Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing required
• References: Two clinical references required
• Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)

• Use of electronic medical records and medication dispensing systems
• Team-oriented with floating and weekend coverage requirements
