Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Summary
- Work on a telemetry unit caring for adult to geriatric patients.
- Patient diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, PE/DVT, and vascular issues.
- Unit census: 36 rooms with an average daily census of 35.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5.
- Systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR.
- Shift guarantee: 36 or 48 hours.
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
- Call: None.
- Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2, work both; if 3, work 2 of the holidays.
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
- RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience caring for adult to geriatric patient populations.
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
Patient Population
- Adults to geriatrics.
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time.
- Background check required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Annual flu vaccination or signed declination required.
- Competency exams required for medication administration, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness.
- Skills checklist and work history verification required.
- Two clinical references required.
Work Environment & Policies
- Scrub color: Navy blue.
- Floating within the facility as needed.
- No call requirements.
- Must review and sign code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start.
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length.
Notes
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
- Candidate must be able to work major holidays as outlined.
- Failure to meet compliance deadlines may delay start by two weeks due to orientation scheduling.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a telemetry unit with a diverse adult to geriatric patient population, requiring solid clinical skills and certifications in BLS and ACLS. The role involves working with complex cardiac and vascular conditions in a fast-paced environment using Epic and other clinical systems.
