Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a Medical Surgical Unit with remote telemetry and potential medical surgical diagnoses.
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.
• Unit has a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, 38 beds with an average daily census of 33.
• Unit systems include Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR.
• Schedule includes every other weekend; floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.
• No call requirements.
• Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2 of them.
• Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days.
• Locals accepted at the same rate.
• Orientation hours vary based on contract length.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start.
• Education verification required; diploma/transcript may be requested.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended), Flu vaccine or declination.
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start.
• Annual Nursys license verification.
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months.
• References: 2 clinical references required.

Work Environment & Additional Information

• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Floating within facility as needed.
• Must comply fully with orientation and credentialing timelines to avoid assignment delays.
• Must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.
• No call requirements.
• Weekend and holiday work as specified.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in medical surgical nursing who is comfortable working with telemetry patients and using Epic. Prior travel experience is not required.
