Travel/Contract Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care for adult to geriatric patients in a medical surgical oncology setting. Manage oncology and hematology diagnoses, oncologic emergencies, and end-of-life care.

Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in specialty
- 1st time travelers accepted
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
Skills and Work Setting Requirements
- Oncology diagnoses from diagnosis to death
- Hematology diagnoses
- DNR/Comfort Care (CC)
- Oncologic emergencies
- Occasional off-service assignments
- Chemotherapy precautions
- Management of morphine and dilaudid drips
- Use of CADD and PCA pumps
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- 19 beds with an average daily census of 15
- Electronic Medical Record system: Epic (required)
- Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR
Schedule and Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- Floating required within facility and possibly to a nearby location (~3 miles)
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
Compliance and Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience
- Hematology/Oncology nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system
Competency Exams (Aya Requirements)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable to unit)
- General competency exam

- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Floating may include nearby facility within 3 miles
- No call requirements
