Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room with experience circulating and scrubbing in General, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, and Colorectal surgeries. The patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Operating Room nursing (circulate and scrub experience required)
- 1st time travelers are accepted
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Work Environment & Schedule
- Main OR with 16 rooms and an average daily census of 35
- Unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, and 2 Da Vinci XI Robots
- Scrub color provided by facility
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days, with blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Weekend shifts: 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule, either in-house or on call
- Call requirements: 7-8 calls in an 8-week schedule, including 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts
- Call shifts: 7 p.m.–7 a.m. or 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Floating is rare but may be required within facility/scope of practice
- Holiday work expected if major holidays fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on specialty area
- Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) — verify per specialty requirements
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including criminal and education verification
- Education verification of related degree required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, THC, etc.)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- Annual NURSYS license verification
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Medication and competency exams as required (e.g., pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG competency)
- Color blindness testing required
Additional Notes
- Full compliance with all documentation and certifications is required to start on time; delays may result in assignment pushback
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final approval
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Experience in both circulating and scrubbing in the Operating Room
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
