Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Experience Required: 6 months to 1 year of Home Health Care experience (minimum 6 months)
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-call Requirement: No
- Floating: No floating within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: May be accommodated but not guaranteed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 100 miles
- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week (facility may call off up to 3 times during the 13-week assignment)
- Mileage Reimbursement: Up to 35 miles radius
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Certification
- If not already certified, a 4-hour de-escalation course will be provided during the first week. Failure to pass may result in contract cancellation.
Licensure
- Must hold an active RN license for New Mexico or have a pending license accepted.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (identification cards not accepted).
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start.
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation for Department of Health clearance (unless completed within past 12 months).
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation).
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B (declination, series, or titer accepted)
- Annual flu vaccination required (exceptions allowed with facility-specific exemption form).
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodation available if needed).
Orientation & Training
- Orientation includes fingerprinting and MOAB certification if needed.
- Cerner training attestation required for all RNs starting with the 8/4/25 orientation group (testing out option available).
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam and medication competency exams may be required depending on unit assignment.
Additional Notes
- No locals accepted within 100 miles of the assignment location.
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first.
- Overtime after 48 hours will apply for contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025.
References & Documentation
- Two professional references within the last three years required.
- Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history required.
- Work history verification for 3 years required.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum of 6 months (0.5 year) Home Health experience within the last year
- Experience in a Home Health setting
- MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
