Job Opportunity: Pharmacist

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks


Job Description

  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies based on physician prescriptions.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and provide consultation on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
  • Support clinical and medical staff as a pharmacy consultant.
  • Assist in coordinating and implementing pharmacy activities.
  • Interpret medication orders and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional pharmacy standards.
  • Supervise technical support staff and assist with clinical, quality management, and education programs.
  • Provide pharmaceutical support for adult and geriatric patient populations.
  • Maintain and disseminate drug information through education and consultation.
  • Assist other pharmacists and technicians with routine duties.
  • Ensure accuracy and safety in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Monitor patient profiles to prevent therapeutic duplication, drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions.
  • Apply pharmacokinetics dosing principles and monitor patient-specific medication needs.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and pharmacy security, including controlled substances.
  • Prioritize work to manage STAT, urgent, and routine medication orders.
  • Float between two facilities approximately 3 days in Aurora and 1 day in Denver (subject to change).

Work Schedule

  • Pharmacy hours:
    • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Weekends and holidays: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Shifts are variable; candidates should expect a mix of these hours.
  • Schedule flexibility required; no guaranteed fixed schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pharmacist license in Colorado issued by the Colorado Board of Pharmacy (BOP).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent pharmacist experience within the last year.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Additional Information

  • Must be capable of entering a minimum of 40 medication orders per four-hour shift.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Candidate will need to float between two locations as part of the assignment.
