Job Opportunity: Nuclear Med Tech
Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking a Nuclear Med Tech to work primarily day shifts (5x8 schedule, 36 hours per week) with no weekend or on-call requirements. Schedule details to be finalized during interview/offer.
Unit Information
- Department: Nuclear Medicine
- Number of Beds: Approximately 240
- Patient Types: Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Room
- Equipment: Siemens Symbia and Siemens Biograph PET/CT
- Electronic Medical Record System: Epic
Required Qualifications
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an acute care setting, specifically hospital-based
- Certification: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Nuclear (RT-N)
- Education: Bachelor's degree or completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine training program
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) only
Skills & Experience
- Must have general Nuclear Medicine skills
- Preferred experience with PET imaging
- Ability to work with a flexible schedule and float between hospital and outpatient center
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle complex situations and work well in a team environment
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols
- Perform quality control on nuclear medicine cameras and radiopharmaceuticals
- Safely operate all equipment and follow radiation safety procedures (ALARA principles)
- Accurately document and enter data into electronic Nuclear Medicine Information System
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and care during procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure optimal patient care
- Maintain compliance with safety, biohazard, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations
- Participate in quality improvement programs and staff training as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Manage scheduling and department resources efficiently
- Perform equipment quality control testing and maintain knowledge of new technology
- Follow emergency procedures and respond appropriately to patient crises
