Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Job Description
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, Weekend Nights (18:30–07:00)
- Holiday coverage: Expected
- Work within 60 miles of facility (local rate area)
Responsibilities
- Airway management and suctioning (endotracheal tube, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy suctioning)
- Pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and drawing
- Use and troubleshooting of ventilators including Draeger V500, Servo U
- Management of respiratory medications and aerosol treatments (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Spiriva, Xopenex)
- Use of respiratory devices such as High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP, trach collar
- Weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and umbilical blood gases
- Preferred experience with Cerner electronic charting system
- Preferred skills: Bronchoscopy, Bicarbonate, Inhaled Flolan, Ketamine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), Theophylline
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- Experience with respiratory medications and aerosol treatments including Combivent, Perforomist, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Medihaler
- Proficient in use of respiratory devices such as High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP, and trach collar
- Skilled in troubleshooting high pressure alarms
Facility & Work Environment
- Short-term acute care, teaching hospital
- Total staffed beds: 338
- Electronic charting system: Cerner
- Scrubs: Not provided; scrub color is ceil blue
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
- Drug screen within 90 days (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
- N95 fit test within 9 months and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing (if applicable)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Notes
- Prior travel experience is required (minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed)
- Holiday and weekend night shifts are mandatory
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for clearance
This position is ideal for experienced RRTs with adult critical care background seeking a travel contract opportunity in Maryland with a reputable acute care teaching hospital environment.
