Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Titusville, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must be comfortable with a 1:6 patient ratio.
  • Patients typically require Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care.
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
  • Floating within scope of practice is required.
  • No block scheduling allowed.
  • Mandatory clinical orientation week: 5 shifts (36-40 hours).
  • Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing care experience strongly preferred.
  • Local candidates not accepted (must live more than 30 miles from facility).

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
  • Experience with PCU (Progressive Care Unit) level of care
  • Comfortable with a 1:6 patient ratio
  • Floating required within scope of practice
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required except for PACU, OR, Women’s Center, or Case Management)

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and competency modules prior to start.
  • Floating required within scope.
  • Must be available to work assigned holidays and evening shifts as per assignment guidelines.
  • 3 call outs result in termination.
  • Notice requirements for shift changes:
    • 48 hours notice: refusal may forfeit guaranteed hours.
    • 1 week or more notice: refusal may result in termination.
  • Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams and color blindness testing.
  • Physical exam required within 6 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 3 months of start.
  • COVID vaccination documentation required; religious or medical exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms.
  • Flu vaccine or declination documentation recommended but not required for contract workers.
  • Two professional references required within two years of start.
  • Performance evaluation on file within the last year if previously assigned through any agency.
  • Skills checklist required.

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting.
  • 210 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: Meditech.
  • Free parking available.
  • Scrub color: Any.

Important Notes

  • Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start.
  • Candidates must complete all required facility-specific documents and acknowledgements before starting.
  • Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement, confidentiality statement, tobacco-free policy, and other facility-specific forms.
