Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Dialysis

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Schedule: Rotating weekends, occasional holidays
  • Float: Required; may float between multiple campuses
  • Call: Required on Sunday nights only

Patient Population

  • Patients with end stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, metabolic imbalances, dialysis access problems, or drug overdoses requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
  • Acutely ill patients with medical-surgical or critical care diagnoses
  • Apheresis patients with neurologic, renal, or hematologic/oncologic diseases

Department Overview

  • Provides hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments 24/7
  • Equipped with 9 bays and 1 isolation room for Hepatitis B patients
  • Telemetry monitoring and central cardiac monitoring station available
  • Nursing care provided by RNs supported by certified hemodialysis technicians and nursing secretary
  • Treatments for hemodynamically unstable ICU patients performed bedside
  • Use of Tablo Dialysis Devices, Baxter Amia PD Devices, and Spectra Optia Apheresis Devices

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum of 1 year of dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Screening Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card for badge issuance
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (not typically dialysis)

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Must complete compliance documentation by deadline prior to start
  • Must complete Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Float policy acknowledgment required
  • Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of employment history for last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references required from recent assignments (within 12 and 24 months)
