Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Description
- May float to units with similar acuity.
- Focus on postpartum care, mother-baby, and couplet care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience, including maternal-newborn experience within the last year.
- Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience.
- Proficient in IV start skills.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not required).
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for certain units; check unit specifics.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D, Postpartum, and OB units.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Certification required; no 2-year expiration per AWHONN.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with some unit exceptions).
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required.
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
- Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Required immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference).
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies.
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.
Notes
- Parking options available for travelers (various cost and proximity options).
- Fingerprinting results must be obtained prior to start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days or if results are older than 1 year.
- Background check and fingerprinting processes are time-sensitive; candidates are encouraged to complete fingerprinting promptly.
This position is ideal for experienced postpartum RNs with labor and delivery skills who are interested in travel nursing assignments in Ohio.
