Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – PCU (Day Shift)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on day shift (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
- Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
- Key responsibilities:
- Start and manage IVs
- Administer medications safely
- Monitor vital signs and patient responses
- Educate patients on treatments and self-care
- Collaborate with the care team on patient care plans
- Use EPIC EMR for charting
- Float to lower acuity units as needed
- Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 2 years in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- PCU experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IV Certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience is a plus (not required)
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or instructor accepted
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with some unit exceptions)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
- Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly monitoring through EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
Work Environment & Other Notes
- Parking options available for agency staff (costs and details subject to change)
- Facility uses EPIC EMR system
- Floating to lower acuity units may be required
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with at least 2 years of clinical experience who are comfortable working in a progressive care setting and have strong clinical and communication skills. Prior travel experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
