Description

Physical Therapist (PT) - Travel Position

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, evaluating, and implementing physical therapy care for assigned patients. This role requires adherence to all standards of the Physical Therapy Practice Act, providing technical therapy care, supplies, equipment, and interventions to an outpatient population.


Patient Population & Work Environment

  • Outpatient setting
  • Patient types mainly orthopedic and some neurological
  • Patient ratio: 1:1 (one patient every 45 minutes)
  • Shift: Days, 8 AM to 5 PM (early close on Friday with opportunity to make up extra hour Monday-Thursday)
  • Work schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day

Responsibilities

  • Gather pertinent data from charts and other caregivers; communicate with physicians as necessary
  • Independently assess all assigned patient types
  • Recognize additional patient needs during evaluation and exercise good judgment in requesting or performing additional testing
  • Interpret results and formulate relevant, measurable, realistic, and attainable goals
  • Reassess patient progress regularly according to department and regulatory policies
  • Identify appropriate equipment and discuss with patient and family

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

  • This is an outpatient position
