Registered Nurse - Inpatient Rehab

Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an inpatient hospital/rehab setting with acute inpatient rehab patients.
  • Ability to fill in as charge nurse as needed.
  • No on-call required.
  • Patients typically stay about 14 days.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • Navy blue scrubs and close-toed shoes required.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Free parking available.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient hospital/rehab setting, specifically acute inpatient rehab.
  • Rehabilitation experience within the last year.
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Experience working in inpatient and rehabilitation settings.

Schedule & Other Requirements

  • Start date: ASAP.
  • Locals accepted.
  • RTO (Request Time Off) must be approved at time of submission; cannot be approved after offer.
  • Call-outs require more than 24 hours' notice.
  • This is a hospital environment, not a nursing home or LTAC.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Emergency contact form.
  • Background checks including 7-year search and annual updates.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (preferred).
  • State RN license verification.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
  • Immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 1 year.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31).
  • COVID vaccine preferred.
  • Annual skills checklist.
  • Professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care).

State-Specific Requirements (New Mexico)

  • Fingerprint background check through approved channels, with processing time considerations.
