Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Clarksburg, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), weekdays, every other weekend
Patient Population: Adults (Behavioral Health/Psychiatric)
Staffing Ratios:

• Adolescent Unit: 1:8
• Adult/Forensic Units: 1:15-20 (depending on unit)

Job Description

• Fill in for shifts not covered by regular staff; blocked schedule requests are not accommodated.
• Limit holiday time-off requests to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays.
• Strict attendance policy: Absences of 3+ consecutive days require doctor's verification and medical clearance before returning to work.
• Scrubs provided: Navy or Royal Blue.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Avatar.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
• Completion of West Virginia state fingerprinting and background checks as required by facility policies
• Compliance with health requirements including physical exam, immunizations, TB test, and drug screening as per facility standards
• Ability to complete facility-specific onboarding modules and submit required documentation prior to orientation

• Flu vaccination is mandatory unless a medical or religious exemption is approved by the facility.
• Candidates must be prepared to travel early to complete fingerprinting and other onboarding requirements.
• Attendance and reliability are critical due to previous staffing challenges.
• Block scheduling is not allowed; schedule flexibility is required.
• CPI training will be provided onsite if candidate does not have current certification.
• EMR system used is Avatar.
