Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Technology (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics (preferred experience with Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents)
- Number of Rooms: 4 General, 1 SPECT/CT, 2 PET/CT
- Years of Experience Required: 1 year
- First-time travelers accepted
- Weekend work: Not required
- On-call: Minimal call required (current call hours: 4 PM to 6 AM Monday-Friday; 24-hour coverage on weekends)
- Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
- Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals: Not accepted within 100 miles radius
- Pending state license accepted
- Guaranteed hours: 40 hours/week (facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment)
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
- Travelers must take a 6-month break after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in New Mexico
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT Nuclear Medicine (N) or NMTCB certification
- ARRT Radiologic Technology (R) certification
Skills & Special Requirements
- Experience in Clinic, Inpatient, and Outpatient settings
- Proficiency with IV starts, including peripheral IV start and maintenance
- Phlebotomy experience
- Experience with bone scan, renal flow, renogram, tumor localization, infection imaging, and SPECT studies
- Experience with myocardial imaging
- Experience with WB I-123 imaging and Y-90 imaging
- Experience with Xofigo therapy
- Experience working in hospital environments
Additional Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (identification cards not accepted)
- Three years of verifiable work history required
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Complete employment application including at least 3 years of work history
- Skills checklist required
- Compliance with facility-specific documents and training (e.g., Cerner training attestation, traveler compliance form)
- Must complete required competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG)

- Level I Trauma, Teaching, Children’s Hospital, Short-term acute care
- Total staffed beds: 554
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: No fee

- COVID vaccination is required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
- The location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: absences longer than 7 days require approval.
- Facility allows up to 3 call-offs during a 13-week assignment.
- Candidates must bring original New Mexico license with 3D seal onsite for verification.
This position is ideal for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a focus on advanced nuclear medicine imaging and therapies.
