Registered Nurse - Home Health (Hospice) - Travel Position

Location: Brunswick, Maine
Employment Type: Travel

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Hospice Home Health travel assignment. The role involves managing a caseload of adult patients with various medical conditions including med-surg, oncology, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, wound care, GI, and GU.

Schedule & Hours

Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Weekly Hours: 40 hours guaranteed
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend, with on-call rotation overnight
On-call: Approximately 1 weekday evening per week (5 PM to 8 AM) and 1 weekend per month (Friday 5 PM through Monday 8 AM)
Productivity: Minimum 25 visits per week (5-6 visits per day expected)

Patient Care & Workload

Case load: 14-18 patients based on acuity
Visit types: Start of Care (SOC), Recertification, Discharge visits
Use of in-home infusion pumps; no ventilators or invasive monitoring required

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in hospice or home health (higher experience requirement applies)
BLS certification required
Experience with admissions and case management/self-scheduling patients
Proficient with Epic EMR system

Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience with:
- PICC lines and dressing changes
- Tracheostomies
- Port access
- Ostomies
- Chest tubes
- Pleurex drains
- Suprapubic catheters
- Lab draws including urinalysis and cultures

Work Environment & Equipment

Equipment provided: agency laptop, phone, nursing supply bin, nursing bag with vital signs equipment
Dress code: business casual or scrubs (any color); no jeans, open-toed shoes, or clothing with holes

Additional Information

Collaborative team environment with emphasis on good communication and openness to feedback
No float requirements
Must be able to manage and self-schedule patient visits effectively

Contract length: 13 weeks
