Cath Lab Tech Travel/Contract Job – Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length
- 13 weeks (option to choose between 13 to 26 weeks)

Shift Details
- 4x12-hour shifts or 3x12-hour day shifts (06:30 AM – 07:00 PM)
- No Interventional Radiology (IR)
- Weekend requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
- On-call required, rotating with staff and agency; call frequency flexible based on census
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
Licensure
- Must have an active license (pending licenses not accepted)
Clinical Skills & Procedural Experience Required
- Work setting experience: Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
- Cardiac Cath Lab procedures including:
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) Placement/Removal
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Left and Right Heart Catheterization
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Rotablader atherectomy
- Scrub procedures
- Procedural responsibilities:
- Equipment setup
- Recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Infection control skills:
- Isolation precautions
- Sterile technique
- Age-specific competencies:
- Middle and older adult patients
- Cerner electronic health record experience required
Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I trauma center
- Magnet designated facility
- 562 staffed beds
- Scrub color provided
- Charting via Cerner
- Parking permit required (no cost)
Scheduling & Other Details
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restrictions
- Return to office restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
- Guaranteed hours policy allows client to call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
Required Pre-Employment Checks & Documents
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or US ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree/transcript)
- Illinois-specific fingerprinting and registry requirements (must be completed in Illinois)
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Professional references (2) required for clinical travel candidates
