Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (4x10)
Shift hours: 0600 - 1630
Weekend call required: 4 shifts every 6 weeks

Job Description

Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse role
Must be able to scrub during open-heart surgeries
Experience with open-heart surgery required

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of CVOR nursing experience
First-time travel nurses accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Maryland
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC) - Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Preferred

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maryland
Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
National Technical Certification verification and copy
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience with open-heart surgery
Ability to scrub during surgical procedures

Additional Requirements

Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional documentation if history of TB
Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually
Medication and pharmacology competency exams with passing scores required
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually with specific scoring criteria for cardiac specialties
Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification

Notes

Locals within 60 miles may be eligible for different rates (not included here)
Facility-specific training and compliance modules must be completed before start date
Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Background checks and ongoing monthly screenings required for certain federal databases

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with open-heart surgery experience who are flexible with weekend call and interested in a 13-week travel contract in Baltimore, MD.
