Job Opportunity: OR Tech / Surgical Tech
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Position is in a sensitive unit requiring thorough review of all unit/job details.
- Experience Required: Minimum 4 years of Operating Room experience prior to travel. Must have experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, Gynecology (GYN), and Orthopedics.
- Service lines include Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics.
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend.
- Call: Variable, to be discussed during interview.
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to outpatient areas as needed.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final decision.
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling.
- Locals are accepted at the same rate.
- Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room experience with required specialty areas as noted above.
- Appropriate state license for Surgical Tech or OR Tech as applicable.
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start.
- Photo ID and valid Driver’s License/State ID required.
- Education verification of related degree or certification required (can be pending at start with proof of processing).
- Certifications (as applicable to specialty):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - if applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - if applicable
- Competency exams as required, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for relevant specialties.
- Color Blind Testing required.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 60 days of start date; instant drug screen acceptable.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months, with additional requirements if positive.
- TB Questionnaire updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly recommended.
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months.
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing).
- Two clinical references required.
Additional Information
- Floating assignments may include outpatient areas within the facility.
- Clinical screening and final approval by management required.
- Compliance with all health, background, and competency requirements is mandatory before start.
- Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
