Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in North Carolina (Burlington)

Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each

Job Description

  • Position posted as Medical-Surgical Telemetry due to EKG exam requirement and tele-capable unit; patient population primarily Medical-Surgical.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios approximately 1:5-6.
  • Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care.
  • Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Telemetry remote monitoring experience required.
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
  • Telemetry remote monitoring experience required.
  • Charge RN experience preferred.

Compliance & Testing Requirements

  • Pass/fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs (except Behavioral Health or Case Managers). Two attempts allowed; must score 82% or higher.
  • EPIC test required; two attempts allowed with passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Candidates must complete a mandatory questionnaire prior to offer.
  • Must comply with zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling.

Floating Requirement

  • Must be willing and able to float to all campuses within the health system as needed for patient care.

Documentation & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Social Security card required for badge issuance.
  • Background check within 60 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • Education verification required; foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained outside the U.S.
  • Employment verification for last 5 years required.
  • References: 2 supervisory references required for clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months).
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required, including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption

Additional Requirements

  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
  • Must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms.
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire).
  • Must complete health history form prior to clearance.
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only).

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Candidates will receive Workday login information two weeks prior to start for onboarding tasks, including multi-factor authentication setup.
  • Onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival onsite.

This position is ideal for RNs with Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience who are flexible, reliable, and able to work night shifts with floating responsibilities across multiple campuses. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
